I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings. Prior to becoming a clinical social worker, I worked as a special education teacher. During graduate school, I worked in the school as a social work intern. Since graduate school, I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings with children, adolescents, adults, and their families. From my experience, I have learned about the importance of self-care and self-compassion. My goal in therapy is to help you find a self-care routine that works for you, and to use different exercises to help you find self-compassion and self-love.
My focus in therapy is providing guidance and support to help make daily life less overwhelming. I work with clients to help understand what works and what has the potential to be different. I incorporate a CBT approach, and work together to help understand patterns of negative thinking, and reframe negative thoughts, while emphasizing strengths and accomplishments. Self-compassion is a key during treatment, and I work with clients to find their self-compassion and self-love. I have experience using different modalities in therapy, and together, we find what works best for you at different times. In therapy, we will include problem solving techniques, DBT techniques, and healthy coping skills to improve routine behavior and relationships. I have experience working with multiple populations and have been successful in developing positive relationships with children, adolescents, and adults. I have worked with individuals, families, and couples. My goal is to always provide a nonjudgmental space.
I received my Bachelor of Art’s (BA) in Psychology from University of Colorado at Boulder in 2012, and earned a Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) degree from University of Texas at Austin in 2016. I currently hold a LCSW (licensed clinical social worker) license. I have attended trainings focused on different modalities and populations, including play therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and substance use. I have extensive experience facilitating individual sessions, group therapy sessions, couples sessions, and family therapy sessions.
I am from Florida, and a huge Miami heat fan. Although I miss the beach at times, I love Austin. I have lived here since 2014. I am grateful that I moved here for graduate school and completed the MSSW program. I love going to work every day and benefit from seeing each client. When I am not working, I am hiking trails throughout Texas, playing just dance on Nintendo, going to the gym, swimming, paddle boarding or hanging out with friends.
